On the Cover of ….

Well it's not the Rolling Stones. But for bike enthusiasts the AMA American Motorcyclist is even better!

Particularly since there is not a whole lot of riding going on in the Northeast. So when the latest AM came out I could not believe it that the cover story was about the head of Victory Motorcycles, Mark Blackwell.

Of course I'm sure it has a lot to do with this being the 10th Anniversary of Victory Motorcycles. But it still felt good. As a AMA Hall of Fame-er, 1971 500cc Trans-AMA champ, Suzuki motocross team manager, and the list goes on, Mark Blackwell deserves to be On the Cover of ...

And so do Victory Motorcycles. I can remember the media coverage on Victory's in the early days. It was, well in a word BAD. Now it's hard to read a review that isn't praising these great bikes. Just this week a customer brought in a review of the 2009 Victory Kingpin from Motorcycle Consumer News. What a good read!

Hope these magazines help the winter go quicker!

“BEAUTY “ is in the Eye of the Beholder

Last week Victory Motorcycles unveiled their newest concept motorcycle. Called the CORE Concept it was unveiled at the IMS show in New York.

The CORE is powered by the 106/6 engine (1731cc/6 spd) which is also the platform of the Victory Vision, '09 Jackpot, & '09 Hammer. To show the engine is an integral part of the frame, there are NO down tubes. The 5 piece frame is Aluminum alloy with carbon fiber fenders. 28” Seat Height and 469 lbs. Dry weight, this is the bare essentials of a bike: engine, frame, wheels.

While this bike will probably never see full production, elements of it can easily appear in new models. The only purpose of showing a concept bike to to get reactions from people. So what do you think?

Just like my Uncle's bike

The first motorcycle ride I can remember being on was on my Uncle's bike in the early 60's. He had taken a bicycle and put on a small single cylinder engine to it. It wasn't a thing of beauty, but it worked (that is until my mother ran it off the road, but that's another story.)

I remembered that ride when I opened today's email and was looking over the ALL NEW RIDLEY MOTORBIKES. Lo and behold, it's just like my Uncle's bike!

The Ridley Motorbike is available in 4 different styles, and a couple different engines (49cc & 70cc). If you are looking for a lot of fun, plus around 120 mpg, then check them out at www.ridleymotorbikes.com
